Eight, Inner Gates
- Type: Special
- Requirements:
- Must sacrifice 1 class slot in order to learn the Eight, Inner Gates.
- Must have a Stamina stat of at least 14.
- May only have up to one chakra gate active at a time. Opening one of the eight, inner gates requires a movement.
- Must open the chakra gates in order. For example, could not immediately open the third, chakra gate. The player would need to open the first and second, chakra gates before opening the third.
- Description:
"The Eight, Inner Gates are a system of gates (or reservoirs) along the chakra network that limit how much energy a person can use. The chakra gates maintain equilibrium in a person's body and supply chakra to the various chakra points. Through training, a person can learn how to open the eight inner gates and flood their body with additional chakra and physical power -- although always at a certain cost to the user's body. Due to this drawback, many practitioners of the Eight, Inner Gates establish strict self-rules which establish conditions when the gates can be opened. The final chakra gate, the Gate of Death, inevitably causes a person to die -- although (briefly) grants them unimaginable power." - History:
"Ever since the Sage of Six Paths discovered ninshu, and the intricacies of chakra, humans have been trying to figure out how to open the Eight, Inner Gates and unleash all of the chakra stored in their bodies. Few have been able to do so. A special group of monks in the Land of Lightning dedicated themselves to the study of the chakra network, after the passing of the Sage of Six Paths, and began to discover all of the chakra gates (and chakra points) one-by-one over the course of many years. Their diagrams are still used by students of chakra to this day.
As the secrets of the Eight, Inner Gates spread across the world, various cultures began to adopt the knowledge to fit their fighting styles. In particular, strong clans in the Land of Fire used the Eight, Inner Gates to intensify their taijutsu -- such as the students of the Strong Fist. There was a time, before the hidden villages, when Masters of the Eight Gates were seen as divine warriors. However as ninshu turned into ninjutsu, and people became less interested in taijutsu, the secrets of the eight gates faded back into obscurity.
Today there are few who are capable of mastering the secrets of the Eight, Inner Gates -- which requires dedication to taijutsu and physical strength -- nonetheless there are a few rare sensei, and students, who continue to spread the tradition. There are temples throughout the world that teach students about the chakra gates, showing them how to meditate and find a deep self-awareness that can help unlock the reserves of chakra. These temples are often hidden into the natural landscape, meaning that they are not always easy to find." - Ranks:
